Supported Efforts

Since 1985, the first year a gift was made, The Foundation of Hope for Research and Treatment of Mental Illness has a record of 96 grants funded totalling over 2 million dollars. Types of projects funded include but are not limited to schizophrenia, alcoholism, depression, bipolar disorders, PMS, autism, thyroid dysfunction, post-partum depression, post-traumatic stress disorder and social phobias. Types of efforts supported

  • Research into the biological basis of mental illness
  • Development of laboratory tests that can aid in the diagnosis of mental illness
  • Development and evaluation of new treatments for mental illness
  • Acquisition of technological aids (computers, lab equipment) and other resources that enhance research initiatives
  • Fund promising research by young investigators who will become the new generation of research leaders
  • Finance innovative research into the causes, prevention, treatment and cures of severe mental illness
